Sure I'll admit that Anne is a good actress. I enjoyed her in the Devil Wears Prada, but she just doesn't fit the role of Catwoman.
First of all she's not athletic... AT ALL! She's a soft body! How is she going to clobber her opponents? With her big soft eyes?
Second she has one of the most trusting faces in Hollywood. I mean would you check your wallet around her?
And I'm sure many people will disagree with me because tastes are very subjective on this point, but... she's not that sexy. She's a best friend type, not the type you fantasize about at night.
So with that said I made a list of actresses that I would much rather see play Catwoman in the new Batman movie. Now I would put them in numerical order but I just can't decide who I would rather see, they all have their good points, and not so good points as you'll see. Check it out!
MEGAN FOX: She's got all the cat like qualities we are looking for in Selina Kyle! Sex appeal, athleticism, mystery! I think it would be a joy to watch her slinking around Gotham chasing and being chased by Bruce Wayne.
The Drawback: She's not someone I would give credit to have the smarts to pull off the kind of jobs an intelligent cat burglar needs to have. But it's only a movie so who cares! Slink away Megan!
RACHEL WIESZ: She's got the looks. She's cat-like. She's somewhat athletic, she's somewhat mysterious, she's pretty sexy, and I think she's a good enough actress that she could do cool things with the characters.
The drawback: While she's pretty good, I don't think she's as athletic and mysterious as Selina Kyle! She's got a bit of a sweet innocent side that I wouldn't expect to find in Catwoman, but who knows, with her acting ability she just might pull it off!
NATALIE PORTMAN: She's not the first first actress that comes to mind when I think Catwoman, but if you use a little imagination, she could be really interesting. Check it out! I think she could pull off the athleticism! Those short girls can be feisty! Second, she's got something sly in her smile. When she smiles you immediately get a suspicious feeling that shes got some trouble up her sleeve, and as far as sexiness goes, this sly smile does wonders for a mans imagination!
I especially see her as the new punk rock, goggle wearing Cat Woman! She's young and feisty enough to do it! She'd be RAD!
The drawback: She is small and doesn't look very formidable for a bad ass supervillain. But then again niether was 12 year old Chloë Grace Moretz as Hit Girl in the movie Kick Ass! But if they could make Chole bad ass they could definitely do it for Natalie!
Hell let's make CHLOE Catwoman! No, your right, she's totally not appropriate for this role, but then again she wasn't appropriate for Hit Girl either and in that roll SHE KICKED ASSSSS!!!
ANGELINA JOLIE : She's perfect, no? She's athletic. She's already done action movies so we know she can pull off that. Second, she's sexy as hell. Third, she's mysterious. She's the kind of girl you never know what the heck is going through her mind. She would be the perfect foil to Batman's badassery!
The drawback: Angelina is that you'd be hard pressed to find a guy macho enough to play opposite her. Brad Pitt did well in Mr. and Mrs. Smith but somehow I don't see him playing Batman! Do you?
WEll there you have it! My top picks for the new Catwoman!
But of coarse we'll never see what any of these girls will look like in the roll, but we can dream can't we?
That's it for now!
See you later and thanks!

Angelina Jolie, really?
ReplyDeleteHer sex appeal has diminished severely over the last few years unless you're a die-hard fan for her (which I'm not by any means).
I agree with you on the rest, but why not consider the following:
Carly Pope?
Kim Smith? - whom is a modern throwback to Julie Newmar in my opinion.
Jessica Lowndes?
Maybe even Eva Green, but that's a long shot.
They're not top-tier actresses, no, but they have the talent and the look that could make fans happy.
What does Chloë Grace Moretz have to do with this? lol
I'll have to check these girls out. I don't think I've ever heard of any of them.
ReplyDeleteAngelina is good but she is getting old.
Chioe has nothing to do with Catwoman! I just loved her to death in Kick Ass and want to see her in another action role! (not in a regular role liked she played in 500 days of Summer. Meh.)
If you're gonna throw Natalie Portman in there, and then say use your imagination ... well, all I really have to say to that is maybe you should take your own advice when you posted about Portman when you look on Hathaway?
ReplyDeleteThe only actress you listed on there that I could maybe agree with was Rachel Weisz. Megan Fox is hot, yeah, but she can't act her way out of a paper bag, and I am not a fan of Angelina the walking boneyard Jolie.
We're talking apples and oranges here. Your talking about actresses that you like to watch and their acting ability but are not considering the character that is being played. Hathaway has proven that she is a great actor, it's just that her look and style are as far from what Catwoman is as can be, no matter how good an actress she is. As I said before, she's a girl scout, and yes she can be sophisticated as she showed on The Devil Wears Prada, and maybe sultry but no matter how good an actress she is, she's still Ann "girl scout" Hathaway! I mean while we're at it why don't we consider Kirsten Dunst! She's a great actress to, but I somehow don't see Catwoman with those bony arms and high pitched voice! (Sarcasticly) "Yeah! She'd scare the bageezes out of her opponent!"
ReplyDeleteActually one woman that I didn't put on this list that made her living with roles like that is Catherine Zeta Jones. She is sultry. She does it without trying. She's also a great actress. She'd out 'Catwoman" Hathaway in her sleep!
About Megan Fox, upon watching the movie Passion Play, I was really surprised to see how much she could act. It was a bad movie but she acted wonderfully in it. Despite her obvious good looks I think she's a better actress than sex symbol. I don't know, maybe it's the implants that don't work for me, but she showed a lot of talent in that movie, and now I think she'd make a much better Catwoman than I did before!
Eva Mendes. Period!
