Kim Deitch has been a part of the comics scene for a long time. He got his start in the late 60's as a part of the underground comics movement contributing to the East Village Other.

and making comics like Corn Fed Comics (1972).

Deitch is famous for his highly detailed work as well as having a propensity for the big foot style of cartooning.

He may have picked this up from his dad, Gene Deitch, who was a famous animator working on such things as Terry Toons and Tom and Jerry.

He also often writes about pop culture and life in the first half of the 20th century.

In 1986 fellow underground commix scene maker, Art Spiegelman had Deitch contribute this 5 page strip to his legendary RAW Magazine #8.

Deitch won the 2003 Eisner Award for Best Single Issue/Story for The Stuff of Dreams and (Fantagraphics) and in 2008 he was awarded an Inkpot Award.

Deitch's The Boulevard of Broken Dreams was chosen by Time magazine in 2005 as one of the 100 best English-language graphic novels ever written.
