The Black Widow, Hawkeye and her co-creator dashing Don Heck

The Black Widow is one of  Marvel's most interesting characters. Of all of Marvel's early female characters, the Black Widow was one of their most independent and modern superheroines. While Janet van Dyne, (the Wasp) was chasing Hank Pym (Goliath) and Sue Storm (the Invisible Girl) was having Reed Richard's baby, Natasha Romanoff (a.k.a. Black Widow) was working in international espionage for S.H.I.E.L.D. (Supreme Headquarters of International Espionage and Law-Enforcement Division) as well as being Marvel's first superheroine to get her own solo feature in Amazing Adventures. How did her character come about? Was she always so emancipated? Who were her creators? Let's take a look.

Avengers #58, "Even an Android can Cry"

Avengers #58, "Even an Android can Cry" is one of the truly classic comics of the silver age with writer Roy Thomas and John Buscema at the top of their game. It's one of those era defining comics!
Joe Jusko did an amazing job recreating this classic cover originally by "Big" John Buscema's for Avengers #58.

The Avenger's The Earth's Mightiest Comic title!

There is so much goodness packed into The Avengers over the years with so many amazing creators that each one deserves a essay of their own, but for lack of space and time I'll give you the abridged highlights of the title.

The Avengers issue #177 is one of the first comics I ever owned and made me a life long Avengers fan.

My first comic, part 2! Star Wars 7 - 9!

All month I've been posting on Facebook's "30 Day Comic Book Challenge". I thought I should present my posts here for your amusement.
Day 1 - Your first comic book - It's hard to say what the first comic book that I bought was because I don't remember how I got many of the comics that I owned as a kid but the first comic I remember buying and reading was a plastic wrapped 3-pack I got at my local hobby shop (remember hobby shops?) . It was of Star Wars 7-9!

These were the first Star Wars comics after the original movie adaption finished. They were put out in January through March of 1978. I probably got them because I got anything about Star Wars at that time. Like all kids of that age in 1978 I was fascinated by everything Star Wars and got all the toys I could.
